The long awaited House Drama competition took place this week and
it was spectacular. The students excelled in all areas and, after seeing
so much talent in directing, design, writing and acting, the decisions over who
won in which category were incredibly hard.
Each house adapted and then performed a Revolting Rhyme by Roald
Dahl. Edison led with a superb adaptation of Cinderella, revealing a twin
brother for the unfaithful Prince Charming, while Babbage’s production – worthy
of the West End – saw Goldilocks imprisoned for Bear hunting. Her meeting of
the notorious Wolf killer – Little Red Riding Hood – was both unexpected and
brilliant.
A wonderful Dopey appeared in the impressive Snow White from
Whittle as, again a little unexpectedly, did the minions and Buzz Lightyear,
while a rather smelly Jack spent time climbing an unsympathetic beanstalk for
Marconi. The judges were in fits of laughter throughout and the evening was a
real treat.
The prizes were as follows:
Best Supporting Actor: Sabana Bah - Babbage
Best Supporting Actress: Marjorie Musonda - Edison
Best Actor: Alfie French - Marconi
Best Actress: Laila Kirkham - Whittle
Best Scriptwriters: Sophie Cook & Emily
Clements - Babbage
Best Directors: Lauren Baulch & Termis
Ibrahim - Whittle
Best House Play: Babbage

Finally, I would like to wish you all a very restful and happy
half term. We are welcoming students back on Monday 22nd February.
