Sporting and university success

Students in the sixth form attended a conference in St Albans cathedral this week, hosted by Samira Ahmed, BBC News presenter and journalist. The panel included Peter Lilley MP and Richard Osman, of 'Pointless' fame. Huda Jawad, Lord Tom McNally and Gerald Corbitt, (Chairman of Britvic and MCC) completed the panel. Students enjoyed the discusson of current affairs in such a distinctive venue.

The sixth form UCAS applications are being sent off to universities, and three students have had some early offers of places already, which is great news.

Other great news comes from the Year 7 girls 5 a side football team who had a very good week at the District tournament, progressing undefeated through the group stages, victorious in the semi final, progressing to a high quality final that ended in a 2-2 draw. Penalties followed, with the girls finally bowing out 12-13 having played brilliantly. Last week we celebrated our new Year 7 Girls Cross Country District Champion, from a race of over 100 competitors. Year 7 girls sport is going from strength to strength.

With just 4 school weeks until the end of term, it is a good moment to remind you about our first Chrismas Fair, taking place on Saturday 12th December, and our annual Carol Service on Wednesday 16th December. The term is flying by.
