Focusing in

We were delighted our students were invited to open the Virtual Schools Annual Awards Ceremony at the Watford Coliseum last weekend. Over 500 people were in attendance, and all enjoyed the professionalism of the performers presenting a medly of songs from our summer production 'Grease'.

This week has seen further sporting success. The Year 7 girls football team who performed so heroically last week were entered into the Year 8 tournament this week, progressing to the semifinals. The Year 7 boys rugby team had their debut this week, reaching the tournament finals. The football team have only been beaten once all season, and last night came out ahead 4-3 against St. Clement Danes. Cross country continues to be an area of success and participation, with over 60 students taking part in the last couple of weeks.

As well as exciting opportunities on stage and the sports field, students are also working hard in lessons. Every day colleagues and I visit classes, and this week saw some GCSE students deconstructing the language used to report recent world events, witnessed Year 7 students developing their understanding of Mandarin, and Sixth formers developing their coursework tasks.

Year 11 families will shortly receive Mock Examination and Focus Week timetables, both important milestones in such an important year. I look forward to their continuing successes.
