The first of our House competitions took place this week, with very enthusiastic teams from all year groups battling it out to win the crown in the Tug of War. This year Edison emerged victorious, after a series of hard fought wins.
Our next House event is House Music on 11th November. The preparation for this has now reached the 'Bootcamp' stage ahead of final decisions about House representatives. Rehearsals are said to be progressing very well, and it is always a very enjoyable occasion.
Parents of students in Year 7 were able to meet their child's Form Tutor earlier in the week, to make sure they had settled in well and are all set up for a successful year. Feedback was positive, and several parents commented how useful it was to put names to faces, and hear how things are progressing.
Next week there are two more sessions for families as part of our commitment to working with our community. The first is on Tuesday when we are hosting a session for Year 10 and 11 parents about supporting your child through their GCSE examinations. Parents Forum is on Wednesday, during which parents are invited to ask questions about the academy and talk to members of the Senior Leadership Team. I look forward to seeing you at either of these occasions.
I am pleased to report that I have seen large numbers of parents of prospective students following our Open Evening. All my tours are now fully booked, and we look set to be heavily oversubscribed again.
