General Reflection

The Drama and English GCSEs followed the Art examination from last week, with A Levels beginning in earnest next week. Fingers crossed for all our students sitting public exams this summer.

This term Edison are leading the charity campaigning, keen to raise the most money of any of the Houses this year. They have already held 'Hoop shooting' contests, and plan a movie night, sponsored fun run and a 'Photo booth' to raise money for Great Ormond Street and Make a Wish.

The sports department welcomed members of the London Broncos Championship Super League side to the academy. The players led Year 8 students in their PE lesson, and were so impressed they have offered to return.

The athletics team have had a positive start to their season, with impressive individual performances in the discus, javelin, hurdles and 1500 metres at the first two meetings of the year. More success is sure to follow!

Assembly this week focused on the General Election, and students have been watching these events unfold with great interest. It is pleasing to see so many young people engaged in political debate at this particularly engaging time. 'Rolling news' has been on our display screens during the day to keep everyone up to date.

On Wednesday I was pleased to be invited to speak to the local Rotarians about 'Educational Developments'. I drew on my experiences here and as an Ofsted inspector to talk about the changing educational landscape, and the continuing success of students at our academy. Sharing this news and developing partnerships in the local community is always a great pleasure, and reminds me why I am so Proud to Belong.
