Welcome to Sky News!

I am delighted to bring you news this week of more enrichment activities both in and out of the classroom, more table tennis success, parents' events and our next performance evening.

Sky Skills Studios hosted our Year 10 Media Studies students this week, as they practised their journalistic and news reading skills with the experts. They also had an insight into the working practice of the media company to inspire their further interest in this area.

Maths week has been sweeping the academy, with a range of challenges in form groups, as well as Maths lessons. Maths and numeracy has even been a feature of students' food this week, with Cucina making a valuable contribution!

More success to report from Table tennis, where the U16 boys and girls teams both won the English Schools Zone finals. They defeated the best teams from 7 different counties, and are now vying for a place in the National finals as one of the top 8 schools' teams in the whole country. Congratulations and good luck!

Our Year 8 options evening was well attended this week, with families being guided through the process of choosing subjects students will study for their GCSEs. With recent changes announced by the government that change A*-C grades to grades 1-9, it is an important moment for students involved. They are supported in this process by their subject teachers and form tutor, and are also all scheduled a 1:1 appointment with a member of the Senior Leadership Team or member of the pastoral team. There is a drop in clinic for parents next Thursday after school for anyone who would like to discuss their child's choices further.

We are almost sold out of House Drama tickets for next week, and I very much look forward to welcoming you to what is always a very enjoyable event.
