Standing ovation for House Drama

We end another hugely successful half term with the annual House Drama competition.  It was fantastic to see the Cube Theatre full of parents and students supporting the actors and actresses. This year, the theme was Hans Christian Anderson and all four houses have put in months of hard work perfecting their plays. The competition was fierce and it was very difficult to pick an overall winner but with a little help from our celebrity judge, Charlie Jones, a decision was made. All of the houses put on excellent performances, but the overall winner was Edison with their interpretation of the Snow Queen. Congratulations to all involved!

The academy is rigorous in protecting all of our students, and I would like to remind all parents and carers that the Designated Senior Person (DSP) for Safeguarding at the academy is the Vice Principal, Andrew Bilton. In the wider county, last month the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board, together with Hertfordshire County Council, the police and probation services launched the Say Something if you See Something campaign. More information is available about the campaign at: www.hertssafeguarding.org.uk  Specially trained staff are always available to meet parents or carers who wish to raise any safeguarding concerns, or need guidance and advice in this particular area. The academy also operates a dedicated email address which parents and carers can use to communicate with staff: childprotection@thebusheyacademy.org

It was fantastic to see Babbage House raising lots of money for our school charities, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Make a Wish Foundation.  Students organised a charity football tournament and have been selling roses during break and lunch times. Next term will see Whittle House launch their fundraising events with a range of exciting activities.

Thank you for another wonderful half term and I hope you enjoy the half term break!
