Happy New Year

Proud to Belong week is a very special one at The Bushey Academy. It is a week when year groups investigate wider aspects of their learning, both in and out of the classroom. It is a week where students explore the spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of their own lives, and those around them.

Year 7 have been exploring friendship, working together and team building skills, including a visit to the Harry Potter Studios. Below they are in the Great Hall of Hogwarts!

Year 8 Have been looking at work related learning, as well as an enterprise activity and a trip to the Snow Dome.

Year 9 worked with professional footballers as part of the 'Give Racism the Red Card' initiative, heard from a holocaust survivor and worked with the army.

The University of Hertfordshire hosted students from Year 10, who also had presentations from different faith groups, and played Human Table Football!

Year 11 and Sixth formers had a more outcome focused week, with their mock examinations, to set them up for success in the next phase of their lives.

Feedback from students and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, as have comments from visitors to the school and those hosting trips. My immense thanks to colleagues for making this week happen. Students were described as a credit to the school. This is particularly pleasing in Proud to Belong week, as they live the values of the school. A happy new year to you all.
