On Wednesday we had the Christmas Carol Concert at St. James' Church in Bushey, where there was a wide range of Christmas carols and songs to mark the end of the term. As always, the Music Department excelled themselves and if you were lucky enough to attend, I am sure you will agree that it was a delight. Some of the students involved also visited Beaumont Care Home on Thursday evening to entertain the residents, and were pleased to receive a warm welcome.
Wednesday also saw Cucina put on an impressive Christmas Lunch. Students and staff enjoyed pulling crackers, eating turkey and Christmas pudding. The mince pies were lovely too.
As well as the festive spirit, year 7 and 8 have been busy in the Science department building models of the cells and DNA they have been studying in lessons. The results are lovely.
Year 11 have been working hard this week too. To help prepare the students for their mocks in January, we run a focus week where they spend extended periods of time with their different subject teachers focusing on exam practice to ensure the best possible outcomes. Year 12 and 13 will also be involved in mock exams during the same week, so we wish them all every success.
Our attendance focus for this term is coming to a close and Mr Bilton and his team are busy drawing names to win the prizes which will be announced early in January. Also, all students who have attendance above 96% this term have been sent congratulatory postcards from the Pastoral Team. Well done to all students this involves. There will be a new focus next term for all students.
The last day of term is our annual Charity Christmas Jumper day and I am pleased to see so many students take part this year. They all look festive in their jumpers and we have raised around £600 for charity as a result of this. On the theme of the school charity, I would like to thank anyone who attended the first Bushey Academy Christmas Fair last Saturday. All proceeds go to our chosen charity, DRUM and a colossal £2,101.58 has been raised by Edison just in this term.
All that is left for me to say is to have a wonderful, restful and happy Christmas break. We will see you again in the new year.
