Going live!

It was lovely to welcome students back to school after such a sunny Spring break. Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 returned to school for the final push for their examination results. GCSE PE practical exams this week went well, with positive feedback from the exam board moderator. Art practicals take place next week, and the week after is the English IGCSE examination, before others swiftly follow.

This week saw our second Parent Forum. During the Forum parents were introduced to 'Show My Homework' which went live this week. SMHW is our new online homework calendar, accessible to everyone all the time. Staff upload the details of the homework set, so that students can refer back to it from home. Parents have received logins already, so that they can also monitor and be involved in the learning their child is doing at home. SMHW is linked to our school website. We expect that SMHW will further enhance the communication between home and school.

Feedback from the Forum was overwhelmingly positive, so we shall continue to hold such events to talk about different aspects of school life. Topics ranged from setting and reports to lunch and uniform. The Year 11 Parents evening this year featured a presentation from the Vice Principal about supporting your child through the stress of exams, as a result of feedback from our first forum of the year, so I do hope you will be able to join us for the next event to help contribute to the further development of our school.

Students are hard at work rehearsing for the school production 'Grease' which is coming to the academy on 15, 16, 17th July. The DT team are also making great progress with the set, as you can see below! Tickets will be available on Parent pay. I look forward to seeing you there!
