Since our last inspection results have continued to rise, so while we were pleased to be 'Good' a year ago, our journey to 'Outstanding' is well underway.
Our community have been involved in the life of the academy this week, as our students were out and about on Thursday, while we welcomed younger students in on Wednesday. Our very dedicated carol singers braved the cold before school on Thursday morning to raise money at Bushey station and bring a smile to the face of commuters on their way to work. Last year they raised over £300. We are still counting today, but it looks to be higher than ever.
The younger students who came to the academy this week were from Year 5 at Bushey Manor Junior School. They spent the morning with our Science team in the Mega Lab looking at the science of Christmas decorations. They grew crystals, created crackers and made snowflakes. One student declared it 'the best day of my life' as he was leaving, so the event was clearly a hit! We hope they will be inspired by their experience and our facilities, and go on to be top Scientists like the students they were working alongside. They were a credit to their school.
Further news from success in the community this week comes from a member of Year 11 selected for the England U18 rugby camp, from which the Six Nations team is chosen. A member of Year 13 submitted his research paper from the Nuffield Science Project to the regional competition and won, so now goes forward to the national competition. As well as this more university offers flood in, including some that are unconditional. These students go into the holiday already knowing that they have a place at university from September- a fabulous Christmas present!
