Principal's Challenge

The Principal's Challenge unites our House competitions, Extra-curricular activities and the trips of Proud to Belong week into one award that students work towards throughout the year. The purpose is to help students explore new activities and find their strengths as they experience different aspects of school life. The Principal's Challenge certificates are awarded in the final assembly of the year, and last summer I was delighted to congratulate award winners at each level of the award, including 'Elite' where students have to run their own after school activities.

This week was an excellent example of students taking part in activities that contribute to the Principal's Challenge. Below is the U13 Girls rugby team at the first tournament of the year. The team improved with every game, and several of the girls scored their first ever competitive tries. Congratulations to them all.

The Year 7 boys beat Cavendish 5-2, and now progress to the last 16 stage of the Hertfordshire schools football competition. All sports team members can use this towards successful completion of the  Principal's Challenge.

The House Music competition reached new heights this week, with some stellar group and individual performances. All competitors excelled themselves, leaving some very difficult decisions for the judging panel. The audience was completely packed, and very much enjoyed the range of performances, from classical piano to urban beatboxing. The photo below shows the number of students involved. I don't know how the music department manage it!

Students involved in this competition can use it towards their Principal's Challenge. Next up is House Drama next half term, with a full range of sports events and other extra curricular activities between now and then. I hope you are looking forward to them as much as I am.
