The students devised and directed the components of the evening themselves, and in 'The Story of Nian' above, even made the Chinese dragon themselves.
Each House presented their own interpretation of Macbeth's witches. All of high quality, their props ranged from broomsticks to iphones.
Eventually, the judges added up the points, and settled on Marconi as the winners of a keenly fought contest. All performers, directors and everyone involved should be congratulated on a fabulous event.
Congratulations also to the U16 boys and girls table tennis teams. This week they competed in the English Schools Regional Finals, and ended up ranked 5th in the whole country. A fabulous achievement- well done.
In other news I am pleased to announce that I have completed my training as an Ofsted inspector. Taking part in inspections of other schools allows me to stay fully informed of current inspection practice, and bring a huge range of good ideas back to the Academy. We continue to strive for 'Outstanding' and this morning I spent time with our lead sponsor David Meller discussing the fact that our Science department is in the top 23% nationwide, Maths department is in the top 18% in the country, our Languages team are in the top 8%, and English in the top 3%. I am very proud of them all.
