The charity for 2014-15 will be chosen by the students, just as it was last year. Each form group nominates a charity. It can be local, as the Peace Hospice was in 2012-13, or a national charity like last year, or a worldwide organisation as it was in 2011-12 with Save the Children. Once form groups have all made a nomination, student and staff House Leaders meet to discuss the charities put forward, and agree on one nomination per House, leaving a total of 4 for the students to vote from as the Academy charity.
This week Edison triumphed in the House Football/Netball, in a series of very tightly contested games. The newly appointed House Captains did a great job organising teams and supporters for a series of matches spread across the fields, the MUGA and the Sports Hall.
House Music is hotting up, with the students involved in rehearsals and training ahead of the performance night next month. We hope to see you there.
Another forthcoming event for your diaries is the Sixth Form Open Evening on 16th October. Our Sixth Form is rated as 'excellent' by ALPS, who measure results against schools nationwide. Record numbers of leavers last year successfully applied to Russell Group and other prestigious Universities. Our Sixth Form numbers have already risen significantly, and we expect another busy night of young people finding out more about the exciting opportunities available to them here.
